Edel, Kreuzpaintner and Akin pen new projects

The FFA’s screenplay funding committee, which met in Berlin on November 11-12, decided to allocate a total of €233,962 to 12 screenplays and four treatments. These include forthcoming projects by Uli Edel (The Baader Meinhof Complex [+see also:

), Marco Kreuzpaintner (Krabat [+see also:

), Fatih Akin and Vanessa Jopp (Happy As One).

Nine screenplays received €18,000 each, including Franz Müller’s 3 Männer – 2 Wochen [+see also:

; Last November by Benjamin Quabeck (Play It Loud!), produced by Skady Lis Getaway Pictures and Amselfilm Productions; and Ein Stück Vom Meer, produced by Emmo Lempert Smaractfilm and directed by Gareth Jones and Aliza Olmert, wife of the former Israeli prime minister and author of the autobiographical novel on which the film is based.

Other selected projects are Edel and Jochen Breitenstein’s Erinnerungen An Die Zukunft (produced by World of Mysteries); Gerrit Hermans and Kreuzpaintner’s Ich Will Doch Nur, Dass Ihr Mich Liebt (produced by deutschfilm); Kämpfernatur, a film about boxing by Akin and journalist Hans Hielscher (Corazón Filmproduktion); and multiple award-winning screenwriter Holger Karsten Schmidt’s Nebel Im August, which looks back at the Third Reich (Collina Filmproduktion).

The other projects allocated the same amount are Jopp’s Noch 365 Tage (Zentropa Entertainment); and novelist Paul Maar and Ulrich Limmer’s Sams im Glück, the third episode in the adventures by the writer.

Meanwhile, Marvin Kren, director of acclaimed horror flick Rammbock, and his co-screenwriter Benjamin Hessler obtained €14,654 for Apartment 53 (moneypenny Filmproduktion). The film treatments were each allocated €7,000.

The next screenplay grants will be awarded on January 15, 2011.
