French films showcased in Budapest

Kicking off today in Budapest is the 13th French Film Festival, which is organised by Unifrance and will run until April 19.

The event will then continue until April 26 in eight provincial Hungarian cities: Debrecen, Eger, Pécs, Miskolc, Szeged, Kesckemét, Szolnok and Györ. Seven features will be presented in avant-première by six local distributors, who plan to release the films in theatres before the end of May.

In 2008, 28 French productions and co-productions were released in Hungary, amassing almost 430,000 admissions. French titles thus claim third place among the best-performing films on Hungarian territory, after US and domestic works.
