MOMENTUM

by Edwin Charmillot

synopsis

It’s the summer holidays, but 16-year-old Emma lies brooding in her bed. The day trips with her best friend are a nice distraction, but she remains haunted by a tragic family event that took place a year ago. One day, the mysterious Tom reappears. After observing him from a distance, they soon strike up a conversation. He, too, seems to be still affected by the accident. Emma and Tom spend more and more time together and grow close. But even the new sense of security she finds with him offers Emma very little comfort. Using atmospheric and aesthetic imagery, director Edwin Charmillot stages a warm, melancholic coming-of-age story about loss and surfacing feelings.
