RADICI - VIAGGIO ALLE SORGENTI DELLA MUSICA POPOLARE ITALIANA

by Luigi M. Faccini

synopsis

There are two films that intersect in Radici: one, in color, on today's Italian popular music, the one that keeps its origins and identity functions alive; one, in black and white, on the popular music of the past, which uses the repertoire of the Luce Institute to retrace some of the stages of the journey, in Italy, that Alan Lomax and Diego Carpitella made in 1954-55, recording and saving everything that was to disappear in the swirling socio-economic transformation of the country which resulted in the economic boom of the 1960s.
