GEORGE THE HEDGEHOG

by Wojciech Wawszczyk, Jakub Tarkowski, Tomasz Leśniak

synopsis

A crazy comedy about a hedgehog named Jerzy, who leads a human life. In Polish real life he has to face stupidity, fanaticism, xenophobia, and hypocrisy. His enemies are Stefek and Zenek, two neo-Nazis claming to be nationalists. They are joined by a crazy Scientist and the greedy Assistant to create an anti-hedgehog clone. Jerzy's antagonists are a symbol of wild strength that - in the view of the creators - is truly threatening the world. However, Jerzy is not necessarily an example of virtue and courage. His attitude is based on tolerance and the belief that equality and freedom can free the world from catastrophe. The film is based on one of the most popular comic book series in Poland.
