The Prix Luciole for Best Poster is launched in Cannes

The Prix Luciole, an award dedicated to recognising excellence in film poster design, is launched at this year's Cannes Film Festival (14-25 May). Jointly initiated by China’s leading movie ticket booking platform Taopiaopiao and Alliance Cinéaste Chine-Europe, with Yinong Dai as the artistic director, and Guojie Liu as the president of the organising committee, the award will invite a jury to focus on works that demonstrate outstanding design concepts, strong emotional resonance, and visual impact and will enhance the audience’s awareness of excellent designers and provides a platform for filmmakers to showcase their aesthetic concept, stimulating broader attention and better discussion.

The Prix Luciole for Best Poster Award will consist in a prize of €1,000 (pre-tax) and a certificate. A Jury Prize and a Special Mention will also be handed out. Additionally, the Taopiaopiao Audience’s Choice Award will also be launched, through which Taopiaopiao audiences will vote among the films of all of the festival's sections to give several winners a prize of €100 (pre-tax) and a certificate of honour.

According to the organisers, "the Prix Luciole goes beyond recognizing craftsmanship in poster design; it delves into the depths of the details behind filmmaking. It provides an alternative approach for audiences to encounter films and offers filmmakers a stage to showcase their works from various perspectives. The Prix Luciole not only offers prizes and awards to winners but also brings press together to provide the best word-of-mouth publicity for creators and support for their films." The award's poster has been designed by Xiao Zhou, and its copyright is reserved by Taopiaopiao.

Taopiaopiao is China’s leading movie ticket booking platform, offering online seat selection and ticketing services for over 12,000 theaters across the country, encompassing approximately 99.67% of the national theater box office. Alliance Cinéaste Chine-Europe (ACCE) has successfully implemented several international projects concentrating on filmmakers, promoting exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and French filmmakers as well as between filmmakers from other parts of Asia and Europe.
